Still Enjoying Anguilla!

I had forgotten to mention when we arrived at Skiffles Villas that the pool was not operational. I remember looking at it and saying to the S.O. "We've just flown about 2,000 miles, I'm not going to let a pool ruin my vacation. " Besides, with 33 beaches, who needs a pool? When we visited St. Lucia we used the pool at the villa quite a bit as we were a distance from the beach. The part I particularly love about Anguilla is that it's so small you can be from one side of the island to another in 20 minutes. By the way, when I came home and contacted the owner of the villa about the condition of the pool he quickly refunded some money.

Another beach we found early in our travels on Anguilla was Rendezvous Bay. I remember that the Anguilla GreatHouse at that time was the Pineapple Beach Club. Skiffles Villa, like most villas on the island have just about everything you could need for your beach adventure, including chairs, umbrellas, and coolers. (Unfortunately the hammock at Skiffles wasn't portable!) We always had the beach chairs in the back of the jeep, just in case. We parked our chairs and umbrella on the beach at Rendezvous that day and had a marvelous time. There was a lovely soft breeze blowing.

The first vacation to Anguilla was quite an adventure really. We got up in the morning and looked at the map and pointed to a beach and said "let's go there!" We circled each beach we visited, sometimes we'd visit two in a day.

We went down to Sandy Ground and took a boat over to Sandy Island, which at the time had a restaurant on it. (It didn't for quite some time after hurricane Luis in 1995). It had several families on it. The snorkling was great.
