Temenos Golf Course Anguilla

The once sleepy little island of Anguilla is about to open up one of it's biggest undertakings. In November of 2006 Temenos Golf Club will open on the west end of the island on Merrywing Bay.

The golf course, designed by Greg Norman is a 7,200 yard 18 hold course with what are undoubtedly the best views in the Caribbean.

Along with the golf course will be a 120 room St. Regis Hotel and spa. Flag Luxury Properties who are in partnership iwth St. Regis also announced they will have a restaurant in the clubhouse which will be operated by Bob and Melinda Blanchard, already well known on the island for their own restaurant Blanchards.

I don't think that I'll ever play a round of gold at this course. It's rumored to be $500 for 18 holes. But, if you look at the cost of renting one of the already existing Temenos villas - Sand, Sea and Sky, you know that $500 is a drop in the bucket for these people. I'm sure there won't be any shortage of corporate CEO's flying in by private jet to play a round.

Sadly though it seems that some of the old familiar favorite mid-range accommodations, such as Rendezvous Bay Hotel and even Frangipaini (which was on the costly side) are undergoing renovations and rates will probably be going up as well.
