Anguilla Beaches

One thing that you won't find a shortage of is beaches on Anguilla. And better yet, if you have a jeep and a sense of adventure you will find gorgeous bits of sand to call your own.

The most popular beach on Anguilla is Shoal Bay East. This is the beach that gets the most day trippers, usually from St. Martin, or those who might end up on Anguilla's shore from a small cruise ship. It's a lovely stretch of beach with lots of great beach bars and restaurants and lots of places to rent chairs and umbrellas.

My particular favorite big beach is Rendevzous Bay. It's got a lovely gentle surf and is a wonderful crescent of brilliant while sand to walk. Rendezvous Beach Hotel is on the east end and the lovely Cuisinart on the west end. Continue your walk past Cuisinart and you will find a small "stonehenge", an area of interesting stone sculptures. Bankie Banx's place, The Dune Preserve is past this. The Anguilla Great House has wonderful drinks at the bar and for $5 they'll rent you a chair for the day. It's much less crowded than Shoal Bay East.

As I mentioned above, if you're an adventurous type you may be lucky and find Elsie Bay, a very isolated beach with wonderful red sand, or Dropsie Bay, another isolated beach, with a very neat cave and interesting rock formations looking out towards St. Martin.

Renting a canoe or kayak while on Anguilla is a fun thing to do.
