Luxury Accommodations on Anguilla

As Anguilla continues to grow and change those of us who have visited there for years hold our collective breath waiting to see what happens.

Some of the old favorite accommodations such as The Blue Waters which is located on Shoal Bay West is closing. Blue Waters has always been known for very reasonably priced accommodations. Rumors are that the owner of the Altamer villa has bought the land. What does he have planned? Perhaps another $10,000 a night villa?

Rendezvous Bay Hotel, another reasonably priced accommodation located right on the beach is undergoing major renovations. A lovely hotel located on Meads Bay called Frangipani Beach Club has recently undergone renovations and undergone quite a hefty price hike too.

While the Temenos Golf Course is just getting ready to open on the western end of the island it seems that Jack Nicklaus is looking to make his mark too. He was very recently on the island looking at the Savannah Bay area on the south east end as a potential golf course site.

Two golf courses on Anguilla?

Along with these golf courses comes more ultra expensive hotels and villas. Some say that the real reason the airport had to be enlarged was to accommodate more and larger private jets landing on the island. This may be the case as American Airlines hasn't made it any easier to get to Anguilla since the airport was enlarged. In fact, since enlarging the airport American Airlines schedule has become so ridiculous (with a 6-7 hour layover on San Juan) that many people now fly to St. Martin and ferry over to Anguilla.

The attached pic is what Savannah Bay looks like today. How about 3 years from now?
